about

The lyrics in "Immerse" use the ocean as a metaphor for anxiety and depression. Vocalist Mish offers her insight: "I wrote these lyrics to talk about mental health, an issue that is prevalent in our society and is ruining many lives. If I was to draw the waves of anxiety and depression, the picture will look like an ocean where the waves come and go but you still move forward. This metaphor allowed me to describe this strong visceral feeling by painting a picture and asking, are you aware that the water is rising high? It suggests that depression is the worst when you don't realise it is happening. We only recognise it when we are in the downward spiral of mood. By that time it feels like quicksand where the harder you try to 'snap out of it', the worse it gets because of guilt and shame. The song resolves itself where the sufferer gains acceptance of what is, and takes steps to self care because they don't want to drown. It is imperative to know your true self and recognise the signs of anxiety and depression, and have tools to tackle it as soon as you start seeing the signs. Everyone deserves happiness and an understanding of your triggers and where they come from puts you in a powerful position to navigate these powerful emotions."

lyrics

Don't you dare to turn around
We fought this war alone
These scattered memories lay bare

Are you aware that the water's rising high?
In too deep in this dream
Can't you hear me scream?
Carried away, I'm trapped inside this tide
Can't break free from history
Can't you hear me scream?

Run, run away from fading light
The void is closing in
These shattered promises turn grave

Are you aware that the water's rising high?
In too deep in this dream
Can't you hear me scream?
Carried away, I'm trapped inside this tide
Can't break free from history
Can't you hear me scream?

Now I'm walking away from your state of decay
Cause you're pulling me down and I don't want to drown

Are you aware that the water's rising high?
In too deep in this dream
Can't you hear me scream?
Carried away, I'm trapped inside this tide
Can't break free from history
Can't you hear me scream?
